Product Description
Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. Dedicated lens hoods are designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.SimilarProduct

Lens Hood

Perfect fit. Easy on and off. Much cheaper than the one from Canon, but just as good.
A Hood that does its job and well
by .. Anthony Gliozzo (Mission Viejo, CA)
I was skeptical about this hood in that it wasn't a genuine Canon however I had read a bit more insight elsewhere on this brand and opted to spend a bit more then the $4-5 ones posted. I received the hood a few days ago and admit it is a very snug fit and I am quite pleased with my decision. Highly recommended - a lot of bang for the buck. Sorry Canon, but $50 for a piece of plastic is merely overpricing and gauging.
Solid hood

Solid hood. Stays on the lens with no issues. Allows you to mount it backwards on the lens for storage as well. A very tight fit, but it fits.
Good value

This lens hood does the job. I don't see reason to spend more money for the official brand when it's just a piece of plastic. It works fine, only complaint is that it seems to require a little more force to put on than my other lens hood does. It is fairly large, I'd imagine all hoods for this lens probably are, but it is good to know before buying that it will take up a fair amount of space in your camera bag. Overall, a solid lens hood that does the job for a reasonable price.
Cheap, does the job
by .. BVC ()
Yep its cheap but it works. After a few weeks of using it I noticed it was a bit looser and makes a rattling sound when moved around. Not a big deal for a 5 dollar hood I guess.
It is rather big so make sure you want a hood this huge.
