Good filter for a good price - but not truly multi-coated 5 by .. e.t. (San Jose, CA USA)
I bought this filter to use mainly as a lens protector for my Tamron 17-55mm f/2.8 lens (Canon XTi). This is a great option if you're on a budget but don't want to sacrifice quality. The glass doesn't rattle around inside the frame like one of my Canon brand UV filters, and it screws onto the Tamron lens securely. The Tamron lens cap also fits perfectly with this filter (which is made in Japan). However, it is not truly multi-coated; I noticed some green "ghosts" in my photos while taking pictures of some fire dancers at a luau. I'd look for something else if you are going for a true multi-coated filter, but if you just want a cheap yet sturdy filter to use as protection, this one is worth considering.

Works fine, great price 5 by .. Jeremy Thornhill ()
Truth be told, I don't normally use filters on my lenses. But knowing I'd be taking a trip to the NC coast and doing some photography on the beach - with all the salt spray and blowing sand that implies - I decided a bit of extra protection was in order.

This is basically the cheapest multi coated filter I could find. What makes the others so expensive, I have no clue - but I do know that I saw no issues using this one. It did an excellent job deflecting sand and collecting salt spray, keeping my lens's front element nice and safe.

I'm a novice photographer and I don't fully understand what, if anything, the UV protection really grants me, but this filter did great work as protection from the physical elements without degrading my photo quality in any discernible way. I'm quite happy with the results.

Pleasantly surprised 5 by .. ubat (Sao Paulo, Brazil)
Truth be told, I'd never heard of Zeikos until I stumbled onto this filter in Amazon. The company's website wasn't exactly helpful in providing useful information, but they do manufacture a broad range of photographic and electronics products and were present in PMA '09, the imaging industry's largest event.

Plus, I was having trouble finding a decent 67 mm UV filter in Amazon, where I was also buying my Olympus 50-200 mm f/2.8-3.5 SWD lens. AND the product page told me it was made in Japan and was multi-coated. Not as expensive as the B+Ws and other top-name brands and not as inexpensive as the usual Tiffens (with which I've had some negative experience), I decided to risk it.

It is a matter of personal preference to use protection filters or not, and I openly subscribe to the "pro filter" group for myriad reasons -- not least of which because it is easier to remove fingerprints and general gook from filters than it is from lenses.

The Zeikos 67 mm UV filter is being a good experience so far. It has been on the lens for almost two months and is behaving exactly as it should, protecting the lens surface and not affecting my photos. I've tested the lens with and without it and can see no difference in the results, which is good. The filter feels solid and well made.

Sometimes it's a good thing to take a risk!

Nice filter...does what it's supposed to do 5 by .. Vidit Bhargava (Memphis, USA)
I am using this with my D90's kit lens, 18-105mm VR lens. It fit properly with no issues. It is basically to protect the lens glass from dust and scratches and this is what it does fine. Its not flimsy, is sturdy and does not affect the pictures.

I did not notice any 'green ghosts' in my pictures as mentioned by one of the reviewers. Also, it comes in a nice case (as with other UV filters) so you can keep it away securely when not in use (like switching filters).

Don't really know how much 'multi-coated' matters...but it's a good buy for the price.
